Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm.

What should organisations and clubs have in place to safeguard both children and adults

Abuse is when someone causes us harm or distress. It can take many forms, ranging from disrespect to causing someone physical or mental pain.

Bullying is when individuals or groups seek to harm, intimidate or coerce someone who is perceived to be vulnerable and is usually repeated over a period of time.

It is not your responsibility to investigate. However, it is your responsibility to act. There are reporting procedures depending on the level of risk. If a child or adult is in immediate danger, the police should be contacted.
